A day-long journey from MN to the Badlands required getting used to the winds in SD. I navigated that aspect pretty well I arrived at a great KOA campground on Tuesday. Today I set off for Rushmore and Crazy Horse. Despite driving through the rain on the way, I was not disappointed. It was fascinating to hear of some of the challenges encountered along the way. For example the rationalle to such a project and questioning why Teddy Roosevelt. Despite the differences, the powers that be worked across these differences to make the bold statement of these past presidents. As I listened, I cam to understand the “why” for choosing these four men. This includes: struggle for independence (Washington), territorial expansion of our country (Jefferson), unity of the states and equality for all citizens (Lincoln), world affairs the the rights of all (Roosevelt).
