Greetings from Susanville, CA

Susanville is located about 200 miles north east of Sacramento. I wanted to visit some of the lesser known national parks – Lassen Volcanic National Park is one of those. I am expecting something similar to Yosemite – with the natural eruptions, etc. and fewer crowds! There are not many campgrounds (with full hook-ups!) close to the park. That is how I ended up in Susanville – about 47 miles from the park. I decided to explore this area and leave the drive until tomorrow. Folks here think there is quite a bit to explore – so I headed to the Buzz Johnson National Recreation Area. The day was cloudy with bits of light rain. I took a short bike ride and then a hike. Fall is in the air here as well. i appreciate driving through the area with the colors coming alive on the mountains.
