Yosemite Tour – Part 1

Postings will be a bit sporadic since access to WiFi is not always available in Yosemite.

As I learned from previous tours, this is an excellent way to see the park and leave the driving to someone else! When I booked the tour I was given the meeting place, which was about 35 miles from the campsite. No problem! However, those 35 miles were through the park and was about 90 minutes. Needless to say it was a very early start yesterday. However, it was worth every minute.

Our tour started out in the Mariposa Grove, the largest grove of sequoias in the park. While I wasn’t sure about the structure of the day, it included some trails, starting with this grove of over 500 mature saquoias. The Grizzly Giant sequoia is amazing and a tree we could walk through. Another stop in the morning was Half Dome. Aptly named for its shape – sheer face on one side while the other sides are smooth and round. Half Dome can be ascended in several different ways.
