This was a great group to travel with for the tour. We had lunch together and shared some of our reasons for being here as well as where our hometowns are located. Turns out we met a Lions fan on the first hike and there was a Vikings fam in our midst. Also, Daniel in our group has been Lions fan since he was little. He remembers following Barry Sanders so he had an up-to-date score that lead to the Lions win!
This was not a good time to see all the waterfalls – due to the lack of snow, water, etc. However, we had some great views of Bridalveil Falls. Both in the morning and in the afternoon we had a couple of opportunities to see El Capitan. An favorite stop of mine was with two rangers with telescopes to see the hikers endeavoring to get to the top. Through the telescope, we saw two women who were about 4 hours into the hike. The rangers demonstrated the climbing techniques, where they find a place to sleep, etc. This hike is crossed off my “to do” list. The final stop was at Tunnel View where we could see a panoramic view of the sites that we saw throughout the day.
Tyler, our guide, provided so much history – including John Muir, his knowledge of the park, relationship with Roosevelt and how the park became one of the national parks. Great picture of our group at the end.
Today, I am off to Yosemite Valley to pick up the shuttle and get to some hiking. The weather is perfect!
