A Day at Camp …

As I look at my post yesterday, ome of the pictures seems ot imply that I am wearing a skirt! NOT SO! I had taken off a jacket that I was wearing and tied it around my waiste.

As I have mentioned, I like to take a day at camp rather than driving to the park, etc. Yesterday was that day. I treat myself to a bacon and egg brunch – that is not a major accomplishment but something I don’t do on a regular basis! Laundry was part of my morning as I sat in the office area to get wifi.

As I have noticed with the national parks, there is often a state park adjacent. This is the case for Yosemite. In the camping materials I read about a hike to the Carlon Falls – a 3.8 roundtrip. The trailhead was not hard to find. I started out, appreciating the fact that I was alone on the trail and could enjoy the solitude. However, I must admit I never made it to the Falls. While I negotiated some rough terrain, I realize that here I was alone on the trial, not a sole in sight and no cell service. While I negotiated the trail up to this point, I wondered if it was something I really wanted to do, given the realities. So, before I got to the falls, I turned around – I think a wise decision. As I read about the trial when I finished, it was mentioned that John Muir could not complete it – of course that was before the path was carved out! I guess I was in good company! instead of finishing the trail, I took some time to relax by the river.

Today I am taking a side-trip – to see my cousin in Pebble Beach. I am not sure when Phyllis and I saw each other but I want to connect. Thursday I will be back on the trail to Kings Canyon and Sequoia National Parks. Stay tuned!

Hello Jane! Does it sound too cliche to say it looks like you’re a Happy Camper?? I’ve had some catching up to do following your adventures! Your photos are stunning and narratives give me the sense that we are with you on your journey. A couple of times I was happy to say ‘I’ve been there!’ The magnificence of the scenery and nature in this country is endless. It seems this trip is everything you hoped it would be. Wishing you continued safe travels!

Absolutely, Lorraine – I am a pretty happy camper! In fact, that is the password at this campground for the wifi! Yes, this is more than what I imagined – what a gift! Thanks for joining me on my journey. This is an excellent way for me to track this experience.
Hope all is well with you.
