A beautiful day to walk 14 miles. At breakfast this morning, we sang Happy Birthday to Joe, who is from NC. Her turned 70 today. Sone of the younger folks were surprised at his age … I kept quiet! The route takes us through the country and a brief walk in the forest. I started out with Rhonda again then was alone for a bit. Joe came by and we had a nice conversation. Today I thought of our migrant brothers and sisters. No, this journey is nothing like theirs – I have walking sticks, water and a good place to sleep at night. Yet, although I am following signs, there are some unknowns and I am seeking Santiago, they were seeking a better life, which, unfortunately we are deny them their dream.
“Pilgrim soul
Leaving footprints on the ground
I drink the crystal water
On the heart’s fountains
On those that the will power is born
And, I follow my way
Through the path of solitude
I hope the life will sing to me
Peace and happiness
of a wandering soul
A good fate. “. – Joana Martins
